Newbie in SW FL

Greetings from SW FL.

I am retired and now want to get back into guitar. Got a couple of gits, one of which is a Guild Mark II nylon string model. A neighbor's husband purchased the guitar over 20 yrs ago and played it very little. Since his death some 5 yrs ago, it had not been out of the case. It is in great shape and has a nice, mellow sound after some new ...

Carcassi Op. 60, No. 25 and Villa lobos etude 2

Hi.

I just noticed that Carcassi's Op. 60, N. 25 kind of resembles Villa Lobos' Etude 2 from his 12 etudes. Just wanted to say that it may open up some insights into fingerings for Villa lobos' etude 2 or some ideas. Maybe Villa Lobos patterned his etude 2 after Carcassi's ..... hmmmm.

:)

[PDF] Cimarosa, Domenico; Sonata in A Minor

Here is another transcription I have found in my archives which I did back in the 1970s, an age of excessive fingering, though my attempts at playing my own Buxtehude arrangements on the guitar yesterday could certainly have done with more fingering in the parts, given the number of times I was faced with playing a chord where it was a case of you can't there from here...... The ideal balance is quite hard to ...

How do I play this ornament?

I am currently trying to learn El testament d'Amèlia, but am having trouble with these grace notes. As shown in the picture attached, am i supposed to play it like:

D(quarter) -slide to f- play F(quarter note) then play the Dchord(half note)

OR am i supposed to just slide to the F and hold it for a quarter note before playing the chord?

Juan Aragón Luna

I make discoveries almost daily on my visits to the forum! Today, on the Spanish forum, I found a YouTube link to a stunning video of Juan Aragón Luna playing one of his own compositions, Atardecer Guarani. There is another one too, Mi Zamba te Habrá de Hallar; seach for "SanJosedeFlores".

Here is a link to his recording of Tarrega's "Variaciones sobre la Jota Aragonesa":

Watch out for those solo left hand sections!

[PDF] Gabrieli, Giovanni; Canzon Duodecimi Toni - Ensemble S

I am still stuck around the house waiting for an operation on the 20th of Septempber so my wife and I have been amusing ourselves playing Gabrieli Canzonas and Baroque fugues with the computer and anyone who can play who comes around for an hour or so.....

Now Canzon Duodecimi Toni has two cornetto parts going up to top A so the best way I have thought to deal with this on guitars is to ...

Legnani, Luigi; Caprice No.2

Hi everybody. This is my take on caprice no.2 by Legnani. I recently had the great pleasure of playing this piece for Matteo Mela at the East Carolina University guitar workshop. :chaud: I don't think I've ever been as nervous in my life! Anyway I tried to do a good job and I hope you like it. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kyle
